PROGRAMS

Adult Bible Study (1pm (in-person) and 7pm (online)) | Tuesdays in the Fellowship Hall (September – May)

Want to hear what God is saying to you and learn what He has done for you? Then there is no better way than to open His Word, the Holy Bible! Together we will dive into this precious gift from God, trusting that the Holy Spirit will guide us into ever greater knowledge and understanding of the divine text which forms the very basis of our Christian faith. Through study, conversation, and prayer, we will glean the insights of the Scriptures, insights which can and should guide our walk in this life and ultimately point us always to Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Join us whenever you are able!

Classic Christian Texts Study (1pm) | 2nd and 4th Thursday in the Christian Education Room (September – May)

One of the greatest joys of being a Christian is that we are the benefactors of over two thousand years of theological and spiritual reflection from those who have gone before us in the faith. Sadly, so many of the great and aptly named classics written by the saints of old are often neglected and left forgotten by many who practice the faith today. Thus, the goal of this study is to dive into these masterworks and allow them to teach us in the 21st-century. Those who join our literary pilgrimage will have the opportunity to read from the likes of St. Augustine, St. Irenaeus, St. Athanasius, St. John Chrysostom, Brother Lawrence, Teresa of Ávila, Philipp Spener, Thomas à Kempis, Pope St. Gregory the Great, C. S. Lewis, and many more! So, if you love to read and are eager to dive more deeply into your faith, join Pastor Grant on a journey to grow spiritually by looking at the past.

Confirmation | Sundays (1:30pm-3pm, 12-15 Week Program, offered January – May)

Confirmation class is for anyone interested in the rite of Confirmation, learning more about the basics of the Christian faith, or refreshing their knowledge. The program is generally offered in the Winter and runs for twelve to fifteen weeks. Over the course of the weeks, participants will explore: fundamental Christian doctrines, Holy Scripture, the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Holy Baptism, and Holy Communion. For those seeking to be confirmed by rite, a final oral or written exam will need to be taken and passed.

Sunday Fellowship and Coffee Time (After 9am and 10:30am Worship)

The library is open at various times during the week and Sunday morning. Check the calendar to make sure the Christian Education Room is vacant before you visit. Suggested lending time is three weeks.

Lutheran Confessions Study (1pm) | 1st and 3rd Thursday in the Christian Education Room (September – May)

In this study, we will be diving into the foundational theological texts of the Lutheran Church as found in The Book of Concord. These texts serve as a sort of theological “constitution” for Lutheran churches and their pastors, as such they are not necessarily the easiest to read. They also contain some polemical language from the Reformation era, much of which was directed toward issues that are no longer applicable, such as paid indulgences. However, for those willing to explore these texts in depth, great insights are available as well as a greater understanding and appreciation of the solid Biblical basis and continuity with the early Church offered by our Lutheran theological heritage. So come, and dive deep with Pastor Roland into The Book of Concord!

Quilting Group

For a sense of community and sharing, come join the quilters every Monday, during the months of October to May from 9am to 4pm in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch is potluck, work is fun, and skills are basic (basically easy). Quilts are given to many local needs, as well as the Canadian Lutheran World Relief. Anyone is welcome, guys or gals.

Music at Victory (Sept – May)

Practices for our choirs take place every Thursday evening in the sanctuary to make music in preparation for Sunday’s Worship services and beyond. All those who enjoy singing, young and old, are welcome on Thursday Evening Music nights. Victorians (a ladies choir) practices at 6:30pm, followed by the Jubilee Singers (a mixed choir) at 7pm.

Victory also has a Praise Team which meets every third and fourth Saturday at 11am in the Sanctuary to practice for leading Sunday Worship.

VICTORY KIDZ Sunday School (10:45am) | Sunday mornings in the Youth Office and Christian Education Room (Sept – June)
(on holiday weekends there will be NO Victory Kidz)

Children are released to the Kidz Zone after the Children’s Sermon where they learn the stories of the Bible.

Victory Lutheran Women (1:30pm) | 3rd Wednesday each month in the Fellowship Hall

(VLW) meets for Bible Study and fellowship and invites you to come and be enriched. We welcome any women who wish to participate in our activities. We support a very diverse number of organizations with funds which we earn through various activities such as serving funeral/birthday/anniversary luncheons, and the twice annual parish fairs. Besides our own church, we support Canadian Lutheran World Relief, Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute – Camrose, Canadian Bible Translators, and the Medicine Hat Pregnancy and Family Support Centre.

Victory Prayer Shawl Ministry (1:30pm) | 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month in the Youth Office

If you like to knit, sew or crochet, you might like to be involved in this prayer shawl ministry. Completed shawls are gifted to people in hospitals, nursing homes, convalescents and those baptized. This group meets from September to May. To date, over 665 shawls have been distributed, with a number having been donated to the local Carmel Hospice. This is a very worthwhile ministry and much appreciated by all recipients.

Youth (4:30pm) | Wednesday in the Youth Office (Sept – June)

We invite youth to join us for a time of fun and faith! We play lots of games, learn about Jesus and the Bible, and enjoy snacks. Youth is open to anyone aged 11 to 17!

Young Adults (7:00pm) | 2nd and 4th Thursday (Sept – May)

Join us as we explore the intersection of faith and life in the twenty-first century. As a group we rotate between various meeting places and enjoy fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. Contact Pastor Roland for more information.
